Co-founded by Calvin Hui and Mark Peaker, 3812 Gallery is a dynamic art space with locations in Hong Kong and London. In 2024, the London gallery will be relocated to a new and exciting destination, The Whiteley. 3812 represents both modern and contemporary Chinese artists, such as Hsiao Chin, a major post-war painter whose works can be found in prestigious institutions like M+ in Hong Kong and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York; and Ma Desheng, an internationally renowned Chinese artist based in Paris, who had a solo exhibition at Centre Pompidou in 2022. His works are collected by international institutions including Centre Pompidou, the British Museum, and M+ Museum. 3812 also highlights the significance of ink art, including the works of Raymond Fung from Hong Kong, whose works can be found in notable collections such as The Asian Art Museum of San Francisco and the Hong Kong Palace Museum. The gallery also represents Liu Guofu, a meticulous painter based in Nanjing, whose works are collected by Macau’s MGM Chairman’s Collection and the Shanghai Art Museum. 3812 continuously expands its artistic vision by working with contemporary artists from diverse genres. This includes celebrated Beijing-based artist Zhao Zhao, recipient of the Artist of the Year Award of Art China (AAC) in 2019, as well as the captivating porcelain creations of Li Hongwei, which have been collected by over 30 prominent institutions including the Art Institute of Chicago and the British Museum, among others.

我们的名字 / OUR NAME

「3812」这个名字来自于一次难忘的滑雪经历。登上令人望而却步的法国白朗峰山谷（Vallée Blanche）的南针峰（Aiguille du Midi）顶峰，许剑龙和 Mark Peaker克服了海拔3812米山脊的挑战。以此为纪念，并向攻克挑战的决心致敬，我们的名字「3812」由此诞生了。

People often ask what 3812 means? The name was born in 2010 in the French ski resort of Chamonix when founders Calvin Hui and Mark Peaker joined friends to ski the infamous La Vallée Blanche off-piste run. La Vallée Blanche route starts atop the Aiguille du Midi where the treacherous ‘arête’ ridge (3,812m) must be navigated. The descent that day, under the clear blue skies and towering peaks of Mont Blanc, as we carved our turns in the white powder of La Mer de Glace inspired our passion and imagination. From this inspiration and in homage to the challenges overcome, our name was decided, and 3812 Gallery was born.

许剑龙为香港著名文化企业家、艺术顾问、策展人以及收藏家，在过去多年一直致力推动中国当代艺术发展，尤以推动水墨艺术的市场发展为人熟悉。

许剑龙旗下的艺术企业经营模式既广且深，包括於伦敦及香港成立3812画廊，并于2018年宣布创办全球首个以水墨艺术为主题的文化品牌——水墨现场（INK NOW），建构一个综合性、开放型、跨地域、多功能的水墨艺术平台，融合学术与商业，并以「东方根性，当代表现」为立足点，把属于华语文化圈的水墨推向国际。许剑龙先生于2019年1月成功在台北举行首届水墨现场大型艺术展博会，其策展及空间设计荣获2019年台湾室内设计大奖展览空间设计奖。同年11月，其带领水墨现场进驻上海，联手上海苏宁艺术馆共同举办「水问」当代水墨展览及国际论坛，集结11位艺术家及多位国际知名学者参与。此外，许剑龙先生也曾于2011至2017年担任香港典亚艺博的联席主席及总监，并在2015年于香港推出全球首个当代水墨艺术展博会「水墨艺博」，近年又获得何超琼女士委任成为澳门路氹美狮美高梅项目的艺术顾问及策展人，建构集团的「主席典藏」等大型国际艺术项目。

Calvin Hui is an acclaimed cultural entrepreneur, art advisor, collector and curator based in Hong Kong. Recognised as one of the leading figures in the local art scene, he has been active in promoting modern and contemporary Chinese art over the years, with a focus on promoting ink art. Hui’s art business has been expanding rapidly and internationally in recent years: he co-founded 3812 Gallery in Hong Kong in 2011 and expanded to London in 2018. He was appointed as the Co-Chairman and Director of Fine Art Asia from 2011 to 2017 and was Founder and Director of INK ASIA from 2015 to 2017. Hui was also appointed by Ms. Pansy Ho, Co-chairperson of MGM China Holdings Limited as the art consultant and curator for building the Chairman’s Collection for the MGM Cotai project, which aims to enrich the MGM Cotai Art Collection. In 2018, Hui announced the establishment of INK NOW, the world’s first cultural brand specialising in the promotion of contemporary ink art and had organised the first INK NOW Art Expo in January 2019 in Taipei, which was awarded ‘The Twelfth Taiwan Interior Design Award – The TID Award of Public Space’. In November 2019, Hui launched INK NOW Shanghai collaborating with Suning Art Museum to co-present Inquiry on Water exhibition and the first international ink art symposium. Following the notion ‘Eastern Origin and Contemporary Expression’, he aspires to raise international attention to Chinese ink art by grounding it in academic research and market insights.

自2001年从多元的国际金融行业退休以来，Mark与许剑龙联合创办了香港首屈一指的当代艺术画廊3812画廊。

Mark是香港注册慈善组织香港小莎翁的主席，此组织致力于透过运用戏剧促进儿童的教育和发展。此外，他曾是香港历史最悠久的慈善组织之一香港保护儿童会的前筹款委员会副主席。Mark亦是非牟利机构SKETCH HONG KONG的创始成员，此机构旨在帮助艺术人才的发展及香港文化古迹的保育推广。他曾是《Tatler》杂志的美食评论家，亦是一位兼职戏剧演员，曾参与香港的多个作品。同时，他也是一位狂热的滑雪爱好者、高尔夫球手及充满热情的家厨。

Having retired from an international career in finance in 2001, Mark co-founded 3812 Gallery, one of the leading contemporary galleries in Hong Kong and London. Since the launch of its London outpost in 2018, Mark has focused on expanding the galleries’ European imprint through building sustained international cultural networks. Mark is an influential voice in Hong Kong and makes regular contributions to the city’s discourse on areas concerning government and social issues that affect the lives of ordinary Hongkongers. In 2022, he published his first book, Peaker of the Peak: Letters to the Editor Hong Kong 2003 – 2022, with Unicorn Publishing Group, featuring 20 years of his letters published in the South China Morning Post. Personally, he is an avid collector of silverware, a passionate skier and an exceptional home chef. He shares his partner Calvin’s passion for illuminating the connection between east and west in contemporary art on an international stage. He is a committed philanthropist, focused on children’s welfare and mental health. Since 2013 he has been Chairman of Shakespeare 4 All, a highly regarded NGO focused on using theatre for the benefit of children’s education and development. Mark is a past Vice-Chairman of fundraising for the Hong Kong Society for the Protection of Children, one of Hong Kong’s oldest charities. He is also an advisor to the board of MIND HK, a mental health charity.
