上世纪八十年代，“85美术思潮”在武汉发生。在武汉先后出现了《美术思潮》及《美术文献》等学术刊物。2003年，美术文献艺术中心以学术媒体为背景，成立了武汉第一个当代艺术机构。美术文献艺术中心早期在武汉承担了重要的角色和多重功能。它策划了众多当代艺术展，如美术文献展(三年展)等。曾编辑出版《美术文献》，是中国当代艺术重要杂志之一。同时，美术文献艺术中心致力于推广、支持年轻艺术家及实验艺术；以当代艺术发展为脉络，收藏艺术作品、整理研究文献档案。关注地域与对外交流，参加了国内外多个博览会, 如：上海ART021、香港巴塞尔艺术展、艺术北京、北京当代等。曾举办了展览“天空：曾梵志的绘画”（2005）；“不高兴——龚剑作品展”（2007）；“灯笼——李继开个展”（2010）；“史金淞个展”（2018）；“邓洧个展”（2018）；“沈勤·文献 1989-2019”（2019）；“浊水：刘庆和个展”（2021）；“副感知：郑达个展”（2022）；“无聊的人：张巍个展”（2022）等，并策划开展艺术项目如：“自由活动——年青艺术家项目”，“其他节目：多媒体艺术活动周”等。

The city of Wuhan witnessed the 85 New Art Wave Movement which marked the beginning of Chinese contemporary art in 1980s. And The Trend of Art Thought, Fine Arts Literature and other academic journals emerged one after another in Wuhan. In 2003, in the context of academic media, Fine Arts Literature Art Center (FALAC) was founded as the first contemporary art institution in Wuhan. FALAC once played an important role and served multiple functions in Wuhan. It organized many contemporary art exhibitions, such as the Documentary Exhibition of Fine Arts, etc. It also edited and published Fine Arts Literature, which is one of the most important journals on contemporary art in China. Meanwhile, based on the development process of contemporary art, Fine Arts Literature Art Center collects artworks and collates and studies art literature materials（documentation）. It is committed to promoting and supporting young artists and experimental art. With a local-oritation and an international perspective, she used to attend national and international art fairs, CIGE, ArtBeijing, Beijing Contemporary, Art021 Shanghai and Art Basel HK as the exhibitor. The gallery hold solo exhibitions such as Sky: Works by Zeng Fanzhi (2005), Unhappy: Works by Gong Jian (2007), Lantern: Li Jikai solo exhibition (2010), Shi Jingsong Solo Exhibition (2018), Deng Wei Solo Exhibition (2018) and Shen Qin·Documents 1989-2019 (2019), Cloudy Water: Liu Qinghe solo exhibition (2021), Sensing Machine: Zheng Da solo exhibition (2022), Boring Man: Zhang Wei Solo Exhibition (2022) , Floating Dust: Works by Shi Chong (2023)etc. Meanwhile, she organized some art projects like Free Activity – YoungArtists Project, Multimedia Art Week etc.
